SUMMARY
UW-La Crosse’s Women’s team, UW-Stout, and host UW-Eau Claire, met at the Lake Wissota State Park for an exhibition meet to work on some last minute things for next week’s WIAC Championships. Team scores were not kept as the focus of the meet was to continue working on racing skills. Stout ran primarily freshman and those who were not among the team’s top twelve, the team’s limit at the WIAC Championships.

Considering the team ran only a portion of its top seven runners, it was impressive to see the team finish with a faster total time through five and seven runners than it had at the Parkside Invitational. Emily Stenzel led the women in 19:47 which was another personal best and it re-established her in the team’s sub twenty minute honor roll. Karla Kultgen and Stephanie Libby came in next with their best races of the season as they cut off over a minute from the UW-Parkside meet at the beginning of the year. Bonnie Wold was the team’s fifth as she ran a 17 second personal best from last year. Katie Schneiderman and Kelsey Mullen were the team’s sixth and seventh runners and were both close to running personal best times. More personal best were to follow as Katie Wold and Anna Kuffel concluded their competitive seasons. Heather Wollesen was the team’s ninth finisher in 22:34.

On the men’s side the team only completed 5K of the race in order to remain fresh for next week. Sophomore Nate Carey led the way with a 16:44, a 13 second personal best in cross country. Peter Johnston came in close behind with a 16:55. Next for the team were freshmen Mark Parker and Mike Granke complete the 5K in 17:18 and 17:25 respectively. Next for Stout was Josh Schmidt, Sam Rabideau, Zach Becker, and Luke Lippert who all finished within seconds of one another around the 17:30 mark. Not far behind were Justin Verhulst, Jordan Scholzen, and Matt Steil who finished around the 18:15 mark. Josh Norton completed the distance in 18:30, and Will Lechleitner and Mike Burke came close together around the 19 minute mark.

The Studs of the Meet were freshmen Karla Kultgen and Mark Parker. Karla ran a personal best by 1:03 and Mark Parker returned to form as he completed the 5k distance in 17:18.
